Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, accessing, or using YourBook, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the app.

2. Subscription & Billing

YourBook is offered on a subscription basis. Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.

You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store account settings (iOS/Android) or your account settings on the web. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access to YourBook until then.

No refunds are issued for partial subscription periods. YourBook e.U. reserves the right to change subscription pricing with reasonable advance notice.

3. Your Content

You own the memoir content you create in YourBook — your recordings, transcriptions, and written sections are entirely yours.

By using YourBook, you grant YourBook e.U. a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the service. This includes sending content to third-party AI providers as described in Section 4.

We do not use your memoir content to train AI models, and we do not share your content with third parties for their own purposes.

4. AI Processing Disclosure

YourBook uses third-party AI services to transcribe your recordings and generate memoir text. By using these features, you consent to your content being processed by the following providers under their respective data policies:

  • OpenAI — audio transcription and memoir text generation
  • AssemblyAI — conversation transcription with speaker identification
  • Anthropic — AI-assisted memoir generation and content enhancement (Claude)
  • Google — AI-assisted memoir generation and content enhancement (Gemini)

Each provider is contractually bound to handle your data in accordance with applicable privacy laws. Audio recordings are transmitted over encrypted connections and are not retained by these providers beyond what is necessary to fulfil the request.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use YourBook only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • Use YourBook to create content that is unlawful, defamatory, abusive, or harmful to others
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app
  • Use YourBook in a way that could damage, disable, or impair the service
  • Share or resell access to YourBook without our prior written consent

YourBook e.U. reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

6. Intellectual Property

YourBook, its design, branding, and underlying technology are owned by YourBook e.U. and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer any ownership of the app or service to you.

Your memoir content remains your intellectual property. YourBook e.U. makes no claim to ownership of any content you create.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

YourBook is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind. YourBook e.U. does not guarantee that:

  • The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times
  • AI-generated transcriptions or memoir sections will be accurate or complete
  • The service will meet your specific requirements

You use YourBook at your own risk. We strongly recommend regularly exporting your memoir content as a backup.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, YourBook e.U. and its officers, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of content — arising from your use of or inability to use YourBook.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for YourBook in the twelve months preceding the claim.

9. Changes to These Terms

YourBook e.U. may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email. Continued use of YourBook after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Austria. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Austria.
